Baby teeth matter and are just as important as adult or permanent teeth! Did you know that the month of February is Children's Dental Health Month? We are able to protect baby teeth in multiple ways but here are a few tips and tricks:
- You can start cleaning your childs gums and mouth with a washcloth before the teeth have erupted
- Once the teeth begin to come in use a training toothpaste and brush to clean the teeth. Brushing should be done at least twice a day! Once in the morning and once at night before bedtime.
- Flossing is important and should be done on a regular basis, especially at night.
- Visit your dentist regularly for routine cleanings and exams.
- Eat a healthy and well balanced diet.
- Treat cavities when they are small and do not wait until they are large or causing pain and issues.
Did you know that tooth decay is the most commong chronic disease of children? It actually affects one in four children from the age range of two to five years old. Maintaining healthy oral habits will help to prevent decay.
